Prithvi Shaw registered highest ever score in Royal London One-day Cup
After two consecutive failures, the Mumbai-born opening batsman showed his class on the English turf. In his first game against Gloucestershire, he got a start but failed to convert it and got out on 34 runs. On the very next game against Sussex, he was successful in providing a gas start with 17 balls 26 but later got castled by Bradley Currie’s delivery.
However, it didn’t take too long for the 23-year-old to make a statement in the One-day Cup as he ripped apart the Somerset bowling lineup in the third game. Prithvi batted from the very first over of the innings to the last over.
He reached his maiden hundred in just 81 deliveries before shifting gears to reach the mammoth score of 244 runs. The second half of Prithiv’s innings was full of acceleration as he took only 48 balls to reach the 100 to 200 runs mark.
