Mumbai’s explosive opener Prithvi Shaw has reacted in a cryptic manner after being left out of the squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh and New Zealand.
The Indian team selectors declared four different squads for the different series that will be played in different formats but Prithvi Shaw did not find his name in any of the four teams named.
Senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been rested for the New Zealand tour and there were speculations about Prithvi Shaw getting selected due to his form in the domestic circuit.
Prithvi Shaw reacted after being snubbed from India’s squads
The selectors announced squads for the tour of New Zealand and Bangladesh and gave chance to a few new faces. However, Shaw was left out of all four squads across the three formats.
Just as the team was announced, Prithvi Shaw shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story. Posting a picture of Lord Sai Baba, Shaw wrote ‘Hope you are watching everything Sai Baba.’
It’s been quite some time since Shaw played in blue Jersey. Shaw’s last appearance for Team India came in July 2021 in the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. He has not played a Test match for the national team since the 2022 Adelaide Test.
The chief of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma was asked about Shaw’s absence to which he said, “ We basically are looking at him, and we are in constant touch with him, he’s doing well. There is nothing wrong with him at all. The thing is we have to look at the set-up, we are trying to give chances to those who are performing and are already in the set-up. He will definitely get his chances very soon the way he is batting, even whenever we are there for matches we are talking to him.”
India are set to play three T20Is and as many ODIs in New Zealand just after the T20 World Cup. After this, India will travel to Bangladesh for three ODIs and two Test matches in their final assignment of the year in December.
