December 12’s Big Bash League fixture saw Sydney Thunder going up against Maxwell-lead Melbourne Stars. It was a home game for Thunders and was hosted at Sydney Showdown Stadium.
Glenn Maxwell won the toss and elected to bowl first. Eventually, his choice proved worthy as Stars managed to notch a one-sided win. Dre Russ’ big-hitting abilities were at their zenith as he ricocheted to an unbeaten forty-three laced with 5 maximums. However, his hitting was not the only thing noteworthy about the encounter. Isa Guha’s double-meaning exchange
So, it was the first inning of the match and Thunders were batting. Following an early collapse which restricted them to 65/4 at one point… Ross and Daniel Sams were building a crucial partnership.
In the middle of the partnership, the game’s commentary panel started discussing the art of spin-bowling and carrom balls. Isa Guha and Adam Gilchrist listened keenly as their fellow commentator elaborated on what helps one bowl carrom-balls.
Gesturing at Guha, here’s what he had to speak: “Spin bowling coaching clinics where the head coach has said, y’all know… You just show me your bowling hand. The guy or kid with longest middle finger was identified as a potential carrom-bowler.”
Much like how you are misinterpreting the term middle finger as you read, Isa Guha also did so. Tapping the former on his elbow, Isa Guha asked, “How big is yours??” Here’s the video.

Both of them started to laugh their mouths off. Backstage commentators and staff also couldn’t control their laugh at Isa’s double-meaning question. You are well aware of the man-ish instrument she may have been referring to, don’t you?

But wait. There was something that made it all even funnier. In the middle of this laughter-laden chaos, Gilchrist tried to divert the matter by discussing Thunder’s score at that point: 4 for 93. Regardless, Gilchrist’s suppression of his will to chuckle seemed fairly evident. It only added to the moment’s absurdity.
