The final clash of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders turned out to be a one-sided affair with CSK overshadowing their counterpart in all the departments. One of the most disappointing factors for KKR was the poor form of their skipper Eoin Morgan. Now the KKR skipper has made a big statement keeping his from in light.
Though the final was a downer for KKR, the second leg proved to be a great game-changer for the Kolkata franchise. They won most of their games making a place in the playoffs, followed by crucial victories in the knock-out matches to make a place for themselves in the IPL final. The team did pretty well overall, but captain Eoin Morgan struggled throughout the league to get into a good form.
Eoin Morgan ready to drop himself
Now Eoin Morgan has come up with a significant statement related to his form. The England T20 captain has made it clear that if he will have to drop himself from the team owing to his poor run, he will go ahead and do it. He will make sure that he doesn’t come in the way of his team winning the World Cup. Morgan was out of action in the warm-up match against India as he wanted to take some rest after a busy IPL schedule.
Eoin Morgan is of the opinion that his form with the bat won’t impact his captaincy. He has been in poor form earlier and has been able to overcome it. The England captain enjoys a wonderful record as his team won the World Cup in 2019. Prior to that, England were the finalists of the T20 World Cup 2016.
“That (dropping myself) is always an option. I will not stand in the way of the team winning the World Cup. I’ve been short on runs but my captaincy has been pretty good.” said England skipper during an interview with SkySports.
England captain Eoin Morgan has reiterated that he would be prepared to drop himself if he thought it would help the team win the #T20WorldCup
