The advent of franchise cricket has changed the perception of the fans when it comes to the entertainment and excitement that the game of cricket offers. Considering the popularity of league cricket, a few weeks back, the BCCI secretary made a statement regarding the extension in the IPL window and it looks like his statement will soon come true as ICC prepares the calendar from the year 2023 to 2027.
ICC set to extend IPL window to two and a half month
Indian Premier League is clearly the biggest league in world cricket and it’s only going to get bigger as ICC is all set to extend the IPL window to give it a time of 2 and a half months. The Indian fans will be able to enjoy the IPL now for an extended period of time as ICC is going to give a longer window to the league in their final draft of the international cricket calendar.
Apart from the extension in the IPL window, ICC is going to provide ample time for other franchise leagues as well which includes The Hundred and BBL in England and Australia respectively. These windows allotted for the franchise leagues goes on to show that ICC Is giving a lot of importance to franchise cricket and want to invest more time and money in it.

Since its inception, IPL has been a month-and-a-half long affair, but after the implementation of the new calendar from 2023 to 2027, it will be a 2-and-a-half month-long tournament with as many as possible as 94 matches in the year 2027. It is to see whether the fans would love to watch the tournament for such a long period of time. It is noteworthy that the watching of the 15th edition of the league had dropped midway and it will be interesting to see the fans’ response once the calendar is implemented.
