Days after BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it clear that Team India would only play the 2023 Asia Cup in a neutral place and not tour Pakistan for it, Iceland Cricket has hilariously offered themselves as a potential host for the tournament.
Pakistan was selected as the 2023 Asia Cup host by the Asian Cricket Council but India isn’t keen on touring the cross-border nation.
Iceland Cricket gives a fake offer to end the 2023 Asia Cup dilemma between Pakistan and India
In late September, there was noise over a potential test series between India and Pakistani on a neutral venue and ECB had put their hand up to host them.
However, the Iceland Cricket Twitter admin had then jumped in to offer some really brilliant (and impossible) perks that England Cricket Board may not have offered.
Though their offer fell on deaf ears last time, Iceland Cricket isn’t giving up on hosting India and Pakistan and has now offered to host the 2023 Asia Cup in their homeland.
Needless to say, our offer last month to host a neutral Test series between Pakistan and India fell on deaf ears, despite offering some unique rules & fan focused opportunities.
We are happy to bestow the same offer for the Asia Cup. The Arctic can offer @bcci what Asia cannot.

Moreover, the same perks and benefits from last time will continue here should they get the chance to host the multi-team tournament.
Hilariously, these perks include a sword fight between captains instead of the boring coin toss, totally free volcano tours for fans and sniper security, etcetera.
To sum up, we have offered India v Pakistan:
3 Tests in Reykjavík
24 hour daylight
Sword joust for toss
Sniper security
Volcanic Ashes trophy
15 consecutive sessions of play per TestWe will add for all fans:
Free fermented shark and brennivin
Free volcano tour by this admin— Iceland Cricket (@icelandcricket) September 28, 2022
Some Twitteratis, though, took the joke from Iceland Cricket Twitter handle a bit too seriously.
“The world’s most beautiful country hosting Ind vs Pak cant be better than this. However, this will not happen. But I wish Iceland cricket grow stronger”, a user tweeted.
One user thought they were offering to host only the India vs Pakistan match of the 2023 Asia Cup and schooled them on how tough it was to travel back and forth between Asia and Iceland.
“Do you actually think it’s possible to play in Asia (UAE)and next day travel to Iceland to play another match ? We are talking about a tournament, not just a bilateral series”.
If Iceland Cricket continues in the same manner, sooner or later they’ll actually get to host an international cricket game or two.
However, as of now, the tweet is of no real significance and only temporarily eases the tension amongst India and Pakistan fans over the controversy surrounding the 2023 Asia Cup.
