The social media activity of Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmad has gone viral.

The Pakistan Cricket Team had a horrendous start to their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. In the very first game, they lost to underdogs USA, and in the next game against arch-rivals India, they bottled the match from a winning position. The win against Canada is certainly some relief for the Babar Azam-led side. However, Iftikhar Ahmad, who was dropped from the playing XI in the match against Canada, is making headlines for his social media activity.

Iftikhar Ahmad liked a negative tweet about Imad Wasim

Iftikhar Ahmad, through his social media activity, has indirectly blamed Imad Wasim’s slow knock against India for Pakistan’s loss. The Pakistan all-rounder has liked a post on X which is intended to mock Imad Wasim. Under the likes section of Iftikhar Ahmad’s X account, a post can be seen in which a user has posted the video of Imad Wasim’s slow knock with the caption; “Imad Wasim’s masterclass 15(23) vs India.”

However, despite his slow performance against India, Imad Wasim retained his spot in the game against Canada, while Iftikhar Ahmad, who scored 5 runs off 9 balls versus India, warmed the bench. Imad Wasim and Iftikhar Ahmad compete for a spot in the Pakistan lineup as both fall under the spin bowling all-rounder’s category. Iftikhar liking a negative tweet about his teammate showcases a lack of unity in the Pakistan camp.

Saim Ayub replaced Iftikhar Ahmad in the match against Canada and scored 6 runs off 12 balls while opening. Meanwhile, Imad Wasim bowled an economical 4-over spell, conceding 18 runs, though he remained wicketless. Imad didn’t get a chance to bat as the top 5 batters chased down the target of 106 runs in 17.3 overs.

With the win against Canada, Pakistan’s hopes of making it to the Super 8 are still alive. They need to win their last group match against Ireland with a good margin and will hope that the USA loses their upcoming two group games against India and Ireland.
