Team India defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets in the second test in Dhaka and grabbed the series by 2-0. After winning the series, KL Rahul won the netizens’ hearts with his humble gesture.
KL Rahul hands over the trophy to uncapped Saurabh Kumar
Team India’s skipper KL Rahul after lifting the series trophy handed it over to uncapped left arm spinner Saurabh Kumar. Saurabh Kumar has performed brilliantly in the domestic circuit and also did well in the India A tour to Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant pushed Jaydev Unadkat and asked him to lift the trophy as well. Unadkat made a comeback in test cricket after 12 years and played a crucial part in India’s victory over Bangladesh in the second test.
The tradition of handing over the trophy to the youngest player in the squad was started by MS Dhoni and was then continued by Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma did the same when he led the Indian team and it was heartwarming to see KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant carrying forward the same tradition. Social media users applauded the gesture.

“You trust the guys in the middle (during such situations). We’ve played enough cricket to realise that someone will put their hand up to win us the game. But I’m not going to lie, there was a lot of tension in the dressing room. It was a tough wicket to bat on, they put us under pressure in both innings. It was a new-ball surface to some extent, once ball got softer, it was easier to score runs,” captain Rahul said after the win.
Talking about the match, the Indian team was in a spot of bother at the end of the third day as they had lost four wickets just at the score of 45. In the morning session, Bangladesh quickly got rid of Axar Patel, Jaydev Unadkat and Rishabh Pant which made things even tougher for the Indian team. However, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin came in the way of Bangladesh’s victory as they made a partnership of 71 runs and took India home comfortably.
