After a sensational Sunday where the Indian Men’s hockey team qualified for the Semi-Finals after 49 years, the Women’s team, on Day 11 of the Tokyo Olympics, made it to the Semi-Finals for the first time ever. The Women’s defeated the world’s number 2 ranked Australian team 1-0 in the Quarter-Finals today. Despite the odds being in the favor of Australia, the Indian Women team kept the spirits high and found victory. It is the first time since 1972 that Indian Men’s Hockey Team has entered the semi-finals. India Defeated Great Britain convincingly by 3-1. The goals for India came in the 7th, 16th, and 57th minute which was made possible by Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh, and Hardik Singh respectively. Great Britain’s drag-flicker Samuel Ward was able to score from a penalty corner in the 45th minute but it wasn’t enough to exceed India’s lead.
