India will be out to lift their 2nd T20 World Cup as the 2022 edition gets underway 22 October 2022 onwards. The cricketing giants’ horrendous outing last time around culminated in a group-stage exit, and they’ll be looking to prove a point.
Team India has learnt that T20 World Cup (and T20 cricket in general) doesn’t have room for conservative cricket anymore. Now with Rohit Sharma as the skipper, a fearless approach has been implemented. The change in fortunes has been there to see. India has won four of their last five T20I series, and they owe them all to their new style.
But 3 of those 4 series wins have come against relatively weaker sides in Sri Lanka, Ireland and West Indies. Nonetheless, ahead of the 2022 T20 WC, India is set to test themselves out against two quality teams.
India to prepare for T20 World Cup by playing against two top sides
Team India’s home schedule for the window before the upcoming ICC event has been announced.
From 20 September to 25 September, India is set to invite the defending champions for three T20I games. Mohali, Nagpur, and Hyderabad will host one game each.
From September 28 to October 3, Bavuma’s South Africa will partake same number of T20Is against the inaugural champions.
These series will help India in finalizing their T20 World Cup eleven & overall combination of the 15 that’ll fly to Australia. In recent T20I outings, the main objective of Rahul Dravid and co. had been to find the 4th bowler to support Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar and Chahal.

Only Harshal Patel and Ravi Bishnoi were able to impressed out of all the players that have been tried. However, Harshal stands a more realistic chance to feature on the pace-bowler-friendly bouncy tracks Down Under.
The upcoming series should see India field their intended T20 World Cup 11. Unlike some previous games, no first choice player is expected to get any rest.
