IPL 2020: Can CSK still qualify for the 13th edition’s playoffs?

It will certainly require a miracle for CSK to qualify for the playoffs. A lot of permutations and combinations will have to happen to force CSK into the final four. How can CSK qualify for IPL 2020 Playoffs?

For CSK to secure the playoffs’ birth, they will necessarily need to win their remaining games. CSK’s remaining encounters are against RCB, KKR, and KXIP. Well, wins in these games will not be sufficient for CSK. They will need to win these games by good margins. Besides, DC and MI will have a role to play as well. Both of these teams will have to win all of their remaining matches. To say the least, DC and MI will only have a cushion of one loss in their remaining games.

Moreover, RR should win at most one game of their remaining games to finish at the bottom of the points table. Furthermore, RCB should maximize their wins, except against CSK. The very move of RCB gaining more wins will help CSK. To take it further, SRH, KXIP, and KKR should only win one game of their remaining games.

If these scenarios turn out to be true, DC and MI will finish as the top two with points in the range 18-22. Besides, RCB will qualify in the third position with points in the range 16-20. CSK and KKR would fight for fourth place. But CSK will see through if they will have a better net run rate. Thus, it will require a serious miracle for CSK to qualify for the playoffs.
