The Capitals will miss the services of their skipper Rishab Pant for the entire IPL 2023 season. He has been out of action since the fatal car accident he met on the night before New Year’s eve. The 25-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman has led the Delhi Capitals side for the last couple of seasons. He has been the key asset of the team and the management of the franchise has given him a prime role in the squad.
His absence on the Delhi side will be very much evident as the team doesn’t have a suitable replacement for the player. The void of Rishab Pant as a premier batter is very much impossible to fill in this Delhi side but when it comes to glove work behind the stumps Sarfaraz Khan is a like-for-like replacement for Pant.

The Maharastra-born explosive wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Khan will take the charge in place of Rishab Pant. In domestic cricket, Sarfaraz Khan is in red-hot form lately. In Ranji Trophy 2021-22 he was the highest run scorer, smashing 982 runs with an average of 122.75.
He has been constantly knocking on the door of the Indian team but the latter haven’t got the chance to represent India yet.
Sarfaraz’s approach while batting is very much similar to Rishab’s as he is also an innovative 360-degree player.
Rishab Pant’s comeback is still not clear as the player is recovering
The Roorkee-born wicket-keeper batter was severely injured in a fatal car accident on the Delhi-Badrinath highway on the night of 30th December. He suffered a cut on his forehead and damaged a ligament of his right knee, adding to this he also injured his wrist, ankle, and toe.
After undergoing surgery the player is now able to walk with the help of crunches. His possible comeback is not yet announced but BCCI is monitoring his condition closely.
Delhi Capitals hint Sarfaraz to replace Rishab in the DC lineup with an Instagram post
These days sporting teams are very much active on social media as they post every single snippet of their team. DC’s Twitter handle posted a video of Sarfaraz Khan taking gloves on while performing a keeping drill.

The video is getting viral on the internet as the player is going to be a permanent keeper.
