IPL auction is set to be held in Kochi on December 23 and the franchise has started sharing its player retention lists ahead of the mini-auction.
The teams are looking to trade a few players before the deadline of November 15 and as per reports, the latest traded player is Jason Behrendorff.
Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians.
Jason Behrendorff returns back to Mumbai Indians
Jason Behrendorff has been acquired for an all-cash deal of INR 75 lakh. “Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians for the forthcoming IPL Season 2023. He was acquired by RCB in the 2022 IPL Auction for his base price of INR 75 lakh,” said a statement from the league.
The news was confirmed by the official Twitter handle of the Mumbai Indians franchise as they tweeted, ” 𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘 & 𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗. AGAIN! Back to apli Mumbai after 3 seasons. Pace, swing & experience Jason Behrendorff, lai bhari. #OneFamily #DilKholKe #MumbaiIndians @JDorff5 “

Behrendorff was with Mumbai from 2018 to 2020. However, the Aussie pacer got a chance to play only five games in the 2019 season. Chennai Super Kings had drafted him in 2021 edition as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood but he didn’t get any games there as well. Royal Challengers Bangalore had bid for him at the 2022 auction and bought him for his base price of INR 75 lakh but didn’t field him in any game.
The Mumbai Indians franchise has recently been known to invest in pace bowling talent and foreign pacers always remain their key strength. Jason Behrendorff will strengthen the pace department which already has got the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer, Riley Meredith, and Daniel Sams. Mumbai Indians are looking for overhauling the squad as they finished in the last position in the 2022 edition.

Mumbai Indians have retained just ten players while they have released five players. The Mumbai-based franchise has also decided to release their veteran player Kieron Pollard as they are keen to make some big changes in the playing XI in order to regain their lost glory.
