KKR beat RCB by 21 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium
RCB has lost yet another fixture against KKR on their home ground. In the last 5 games at the Chinnaswamy stadium, KKR has defeated RCB in all 5 matches.
On Wednesday night it was no different as Kohli and Co were not able to chase 200 runs on a very good surface to bat on. Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first. The KKR openers Jason Roy and Jagdeeshan started off well as they were 82/0 after the completion of 9 overs.
Vyshak removed both the KKR openers but that didn’t stop the leakage of runs as captain Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer kept the momentum going.
KKR finished their innings on 200/5 with the late flourish of Rinku Singh David Wiese.
Too much reliance on the big three costs RCB another loss
RCB captain Faf Duplessis was again used as an impact substitute as he still has not fully recovered from his injury. He along with the stand-in skipper Virat Kohli gave a splendid start in the first couple of overs.
Then captain Nitish Rana played a masterstroke of introducing his leg spinner Suyash Sharma inside the powerplay. The young leg spinner removed dangerous Du Plessis which totally changed the momentum of the chase.
After that, in form, Glenn Maxwell was dismissed on 3 runs by Varun Chakravarty which derailed RCB from the chase completely. Virat and Lomror did form a handy partnership of 55 runs for the 4th wicket. However, Lomror’s high-risk batting cost him his wicket and once again it was Chakravarty to dealt the blow.
Then afterward Kohli also departed on the 13th over which almost killed RCB’s hope to chase down this total.
