Indian Premier League is undoubtedly the biggest franchise league in the world and the way the recent e-auction went by, the stakes have only got higher. Viacom bought the IPL digital rights for 5 years after shelling out a mammoth Rs.20,500 crore and also won the non-exclusive Package C (digital rights of 18 non-exclusive marquee games per season) after paying another Rs. 2991 crore. Now Viacom announces new features the viewers can experience from the 2023 edition onwards.
Viacom announces new features for IPL 2023 edition
With Viacom acquiring the digital rights of the IPL for the next five years, the fans are going to witness something different as far as their viewing experience is concerned. The Indian media and entertainment joint venture, Viacom announces new features which include live-streaming of the IPL matches in 4K or ultra-high-resolution which the fans can experience from the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
The fans will also be able to select and watch the match from different angles. With the intent of giving the fans an immersive experience of the sport, Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio announced that the next season of the IPL will be unique as the fans will be able to watch the match from multiple camera angles. On top of it, the live stream can be watched in ultra- HD which will make the experience even more enthralling.
Akash Ambani who also owns Mumbai Indians said, “Because of the gigabit speed of JioAir Fiber, we can now deliver not only one video stream but multiple video streams showing multiple camera angles at the same time live. That too in ultra-high-definition (4K). We can dynamically choose which camera angle we want to focus on while having a preview of multiple live video streams simultaneously. It makes all the sports truly immersive.”

Akash Ambani at 45th Reliance Industries AGM shared that with the gigabit speed of JioAir Fiber, they will be able to make it possible for the fans to watch multiple streams. The JioAir Fiber, which is going to be launched on Diwali, is a name given to Jio 5G services. The services will first be introduced in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai metro cities before moving out to other parts of the country.
