Team India’s skipper Rohit Sharma took a dig at young wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan for missing out on three consecutive ODI games after smashing a double hundred against Bangladesh.
Young Ishan Kishan was quick to respond to Rohit’s question as he came up with a hilarious reply to which the Indian skipper couldn’t control his laughter.
Ishan Kishan’s witty reply leaves Rohit and Gill in splits
The Indian team management had a problem of plenty ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka as they had to choose one of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill to partner along with Rohit Sharma to open the innings. While Gill was consistent throughout the 2022 season in the ODI format, Kishan scored a stellar double ton when he got a solitary opportunity against Bangladesh.
However, Rohit Sharma made it very clear that the team management will give enough opportunities to Gill ahead of Kishan. Team India used the same opening combination against the Kiwis while Ishan got a chance to bat at the number four position.
In the first ODI against New Zealand, Shubman Gill went on to score a scintillating double ton and won the game single-handedly for the Men in Blue. After the victory over the Kiwis, Gill and Ishan had a cheeky conversation with skipper Rohit Sharma.
The BCCI uploaded a video after the first ODI against New Zealand played in Hyderabad in which Captain Rohit Sharma said to Shubman Gill,“From myself and Ishan, I would like to welcome you to the 200-club.”

Rohit then looked towards Kishan and asked a cheeky question. “Ishan, yaar aapne 200 banake 3 match nahi khela. (Ishan, you didn’t play for three matches despite scoring a 200),” Rohit asked viciously. “Bhaiyya captain toh aap ho (Brother, you are the captain),” replied Kishan hilariously that sparked a laugh riot among the three Indian cricketers.
Rohit’s decision was proved to be fruitful for the Indian team as Shubman Gill scored a double hundred against a strong New Zealand side. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan will get his opportunities in the middle order in the absence of KL Rahul.
