Rishabh Pant’s cheeky comments from behind the stumps often steal the spotlight. The 26-year-old wicketkeeper is known for his habit of chirping and teasing opponents during Test matches. In the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test in Kanpur, he set his sights on disrupting Mominul Haque’s concentration.
Mominul had settled in, batting on 27 runs from 68 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling the 33rd over of the innings when Rishabh Pant, from behind the stumps, quipped, ‘Ye acha hai, helmet se bhi LBW kar sakte hai,’ which roughly translates to ‘This is great, we could even get him out LBW if the ball strikes his helmet’.
The comment even left commentator Sunil Gavaskar chuckling, and he translated it for the English-speaking viewers. While Mominul may have understood Rishabh Pant’s remark, he chose not to react and maintained his composure. He remained unbeaten at the end of the day, currently batting on 40 runs.

Mominul Haque’s height stands at 5 feet 3 inches but jokes aside, he is a very talented batter. He has over 4,000 Test runs to his name and has previously served as Bangladesh’s Test captain. In the first match of the series, Mominul managed to score only 13 runs, but he has shown good resilience in the ongoing Test in Kanpur.

On the second day of the match, Mominul Haque will resume Bangladesh’s innings alongside Mushfiqur Rahim. Only 35 overs were possible on the first day due to rain and bad light. Bangladesh has posted 107 runs losing 3 wickets, which can be considered a solid start.
