Rishabh Pant is a natural entertainer. He plays cricket with flair and freedom, and he has built a reputation for playing outrageous shots under pressure over the years. One of them is the reverse scoop, a stroke very few would dare to play, let alone master.
Fans still remember the moment he reverse-swept Jimmy Anderson in a Test match. That shot became iconic. More recently, he played a reverse scoop for six against Ireland’s Barry McCarthy during India’s T20 World Cup 2024 opener in New York.
But Rishabh Pant had another trick up his sleeve and once again stunned the crowd. He pulled off a similar shot against a fast bowler during an IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
On the third ball of the seventh over, CSK pacer Jamie Overton ran in with purpose, wherein he bowled a length delivery. In reply, Pant was unfazed by the pace as he premeditated the reverse scoop. He flipped the ball over the third-man boundary for six in what was clean, classy, and very Pant-like.

The video of the same went viral in no time on social media, which received reactions. Experts praised the timing and confidence, and the fans were thrilled to see the old Pant back.
This innings meant a lot. Pant had not been in the best form this season. Runs had dried up but on this day, he looked sharper. He picked his moments. He respected the good balls and attacked anything loose. Though he struggled a bit against Noor Ahmed, he cashed in when the pacers came on.
