The former England captain Joe Root is reaching new heights in his career every single day. The Yorkshire born has got his name in another milestone which is achieved by only a few batters. Joe Root enters the Elite Tally of Top 10 Highest Run Scorers in Test Cricket.
Joe Root has been arguably the batsman England has ever produced if we look at the stats. His recent test performances have outnumbered Steven Smith who averages nearly 60 in Test cricket. The 32-year-old is breaking every possible test batting record with ease.
In the ongoing Ashes series, he scored an unbeaten ton in the first test, and in the second test at Lords, he break out into the list of the top 10 highest run-getters in Test cricket.
Top 10 Highest Run Scorers in Test Cricket
The modern master Joe Root reached the epitome of success by sneaking into the list of all-time greats of cricket. The right-handed batter has made it into the top 10 runscorer of test cricket in which great Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of the list.
Root has amassed 11175 runs in just 132 matches averaging 50.79 and his best score has been 254. It is expected that within a year Root will surpass Mahela Jayawardene, Chanderpaul, and Brian Lara on the list.
However, it’s still a long way to go for Joe Root to overtake unarguably the greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar as Sachin has almost 16000 runs with an average of 53.79.
If Root manages to play for the next 4-5 years then it might be possible for him to reach the historical landmark. He is 32 now and he has some years of cricket left in him still.

Root’s evolved his game to become the best in the business
It won’t be wrong to say that right now Joe Root is the best test batsman in the world considering his recent records all over the world. However, the player faced a rough patch in his career during the time 2018-2020 when he was not being able to convert his starts into big runs a lot of people even said that he is not worthy of being in the Fab 4.
As a result, Root made slight adjustments to his technique and started playing more positive cricket rather than defensive. In the last 3 years, Root has scored 13 hundred the most by any player in test cricket.
