On Thursday, the eliminator match of the ongoing ninth edition of the KFC Big Bash League commenced between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunders at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Meanwhile, during the first innings, Sydney Thunders’ batsman Alex Hales hit a mountainous shot for a six over the stadium roof.
It all happened on the last ball of the 9th over when Hurricanes’ bowler Scott Boland bowled a good length delivery and Alex Hales hit the ball hard towards the deep square for a huge six. For the first wicket, Alex Hales along with Usman Khawaja scored 103 runs partnership. During his knock, Alex Hales claimed 45th half-century of the career.

Earlier in the match, after winning the toss Sydney Thunders decided to bat first at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Meanwhile, in the first innings, Sydney Thunders managed to score 197-5 at the end of the 20th over. From Thunders team, openers Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja give great opening stand of 103 runs. Hales scored 60 runs off just 37 balls and Usman Khawaja scored 54 off just 34 balls before getting out.
In the reply, the hosts could manage to score only 140 before getting all out inside 19 overs and lost the match by 57 runs. From Hobart Hurricanes only D Archy Short could manage to score 30+ score as he scored 37 off 24 balls before getting out. Hence gets out of the tournament after losing the eliminator match of the ninth edition of KFC Big Bash League.
