Mumbai Indians led by Hardik Pandya haven’t quite found a way to churn out consistent results in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Ever since Hardik Pandya took over the new captain, things didn’t go well for them. Their fanbase hasn’t been happy for the captaincy change and since then, the five-time IPL champions struggled to produce spark in the games they have played so far.
Having played eight games so far, Hardik Pandya and Co. won just three games and lost the remaining five games. Currently, they are placed seventh on the league stage points table with six points at an NRR of -0.227. With six more games to be played in the league phase, MI have no option other than switching gears else their journey might come to a close in a disappointing manner.

Former South African paceman Dale Steyn has launched a scathing attack on MI captain Hardik Pandya for his leadership in the ongoing IPL season. Although MI performed well in patches, they just haven’t been able to remain consistent this season and it remains to be seen how they go about their work in the remaining games. Steyn was particularly not pleased with the way Hardik Pandya has led the team so far.
The former South Africa speedster took to his official X handle (previously known as Twitter) and chipped in with his opinion. He wrote, “I really look forward to the day players might say what’s honestly on their mind. Instead we some how dumbed ourselves and our minds into saying the usual safe thing, lose the next game, smile and then repeat that nonsense again. 🙄”

Dale Steyn’s post spread like wildfire on the social media channels, with netizens also joining the bandwagon to slam Hardik Pandya for his poor captaincy. Mumbai Indians recently suffered a defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in the last night’s encounter in Jaipur. The Royals got the better of MI in both legs, winning the first leg by six wickets and the second leg by 9 wickets to complete a double over Hardik Pandya and Co. Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Delhi Capitals in the next game on April 27, Saturday in an away fixture at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
