Manchester United are set to return into action on the 12th of July against their arch-rivals Liverpool in a pre-season fixture. Although a lot of work has been done in clearing out the squad, there is still a major amount to be done in bringing some players.
Players Out
Big names including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, and many more have left the club on a free transfer.
Pogba is close to joining Juventus for the second time, while Matic has already reunited with his former boss Jose Mourinho at Roma. We are still yet to see the possible destinations for both Mata and Cavani.
Players in
Anthony Martial’s loan deal with Sevilla ends on 30th June and so he will return to the club along with Andreas Perreira. Though the future of both players is still in doubt. Other loanees Tuanzebe and Pellistri will also return to the club upon the expiration of their loan deals.
Rumors
Manchester United were in the market for Darwin Nunez with many sources suggesting that a bid was also put on the table but Liverpool ended up snatching him right in the end.
The initial bid for Frenkie De Jong worth 60 million euros + add-ons has been rejected by Barca with United preparing a better offer for the Dutch International.
CEO Richard Arnold gave fans an update on the chase on Saturday: “Money is not a consideration on who we want,” Arnold said in a video posted to Twitter by user @MufcWonItAll. “The manager wants him (De Jong) and they have actually done the work. He’s a great player.”
According to rumours, Manchester United have made a £55 million deal for Porto’s Evanilson. Erik ten Hag is hoping to sign a new striker this summer to relieve Cristiano Ronaldo of the goal-scoring responsibility as he approaches the end of his career.
The club is also looking at Timber and Christian Eriksen, who will be out of contract with Brentford next week.
