The LA Knight Riders vs. San Francisco Unicorns match on Sunday saw Finn Allen wreaking havoc against the Knight Riders’ bowlers. The Carey Anderson-led Unicorns needed a good start while chasing 165 runs, and Finn Allen delivered. The Unicorns’ opener went on to hit five consecutive sixes during the power-play, setting a solid foundation for his team.
Andre Russell bowled the 5th over of the innings, and Finn Allen ended the over with two back-to-back sixes. In the next over, he faced Shakib Al Hasan and hit him for 3 sixes in 3 balls. With these 5 sixes in 5 balls, Finn Allen’s score went from 18(16) to 48(21). However, after this blitz, Allen slowed down a bit, completing his fifty in 24 balls, and was eventually dismissed in the 13th over, scoring 67 runs off 37 ball.
But he had done his job, as the Unicorns had no trouble in the chase, reaching the target in 15.2 overs with only 4 wickets down. Kiwi batter Finn Allen was awarded Man of the Match for his quickfire knock in the Unicorns’ first game of the season. Here’s the video of Finn Allen’s fireworks.

Shakib Al Hasan took a battering from Allen, but there are positive signs for him and the LAKR as he performed well with the bat. Shakib scored 35 runs off 26 balls in the match. As the season progresses, the Bangladesh all-rounder is expected to play an important role for the Sunil Narine-led side.

The win takes the Unicorns to the top of the table, while the Knight Riders slipped to 4th position after their first defeat of the season. However, they won’t be too worried as they have 5 more matches left this season. Each team will play 7 games during the group stage, with the top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs.
