India’s fintech startup CRED has been spending a lot of money on advertising and promotion. Founded by Bangaluru based entrepreneur Kunal Shah in 2018, CRED is currently valued at $2.2 billion. The company has a unique advertising strategy. The start-up has secured a 3-year deal with IPL from 2020 to 2022. CRED has hired Bollywood celebrities and cricketers to feature in their ad. Recently, a CRED ad featuring 4 former cricketers has made the fans nostalgic. However, current generations’ fans have failed to recognize the 90s stars. Here below are the names of all CRED boy-band ad cast members.

Name of Cricketers in CRED Ad

Venkatesh Prasad: The pace bowler from Mysore had made his debut for India in 1994. In a span of a 7-year international career, Prasad played 194 matches for India and picked 292 wickets. The most remarkable moment of 6 feet 3 inches tall bowler’s career is taking perfect revenge from Pakistani batsman Aamir Sohail.

The incident came during the 1996 world cup. After hitting a boundary off Venkatesh Prasad’s delivery, Sohail tried to intimidate the Indian pacer by pointing his bat where the ball went. However, Prasad had the last laugh as he thrashed Sohail’s stumps in the very next ball. The incident is regarded as one of the most iconic moments in the India vs Pakistan matches. The memory of that match among fans has refreshed after seeing Venky in the latest ad. The cricketer had posted the video of the CRED commercial on his Twitter handle.

Maninder Singh: He is one of the 4 cricketers featured in the CRED boy band ad. In the advertising, he can be seen singing “In the 90s, we were the real OGs.” Maninder played for India as a left-arm off-spinner. The Pune-born cricketer played 94 matches for the nation between 1982 to 1993. During his playing days, he was regarded as the next Bishan Singh Bedi. He is still very much active in cricket as an expert.

Ad cast includes Javagal Srinath

Javagal Srinath: What Jasprit Bumrah is today for India, Javagal Srinath was in 90s. Regarded as one of India’s best pacers, Jagaval Srinath is the only Indian fast bowler to take 300 wickets in ODI. In tests, he has bagged 215 wickets in 67 matches. Also, he played  Srinath’s international career spanned between 1991 to 2003. The World Cup 2003 final between India and Australia was his last international match.

The right-arm pacer played in four world cups (1992, 1996, 1999, 2003) for India in which he picked 44 wickets which are the joint-most for an Indian bowler with Zaheer Khan. Seeing, Javagal Srinath alongside 3 other cricketers in CRED ad, nostalgia has evoked among 90s kids.

Saba Karim: The former wicket-keeper batsman is the 4th 90s cricketer who appeared in the CRED ad. Karim played only 35 ODIs and one test for India before an eye injury ended his career. He also has an exceptional record in domestic cricket, especially in Ranji Trophy. After retirement, Karim took up the commentator’s role. In 2018, Karim was appointed BCCI’s General Manager of Cricket Operations.

Previously, Rahul Dravid too appeared in one of the commercials for the app. The legendary batsman who is known for his calm behavior was seen in angry mode. Viewers found the advertisement hilarious and even Virat Kohli couldn’t stop himself from reacting to the video. The Indian captain had tweeted, “Never seen this side of Rahul Bhai,”
