Battling in a two-match Test series, Bangladesh and New Zealand have played an exciting brand of cricket in the ongoing red-ball game. Going against the odds, the visitors maintained their upper hand during most phases of the match.
As day four came to a close, New Zealand’s score read 147/5, leading by 17 runs in their second innings. With the last day remaining, Bangladesh would look to wrap up the opponents in the morning session and chase the target set for them. Asserting their dominance over the Kiwis, Bangladesh has been top-notch in every department.
However, a Decision Review System (DRS) howler from their side shocked the fans. Bowling to Ross Taylor, Taskin Ahmed shifted his line and produced a fuller delivery that clearly hit the middle of the bat.
To everyone’s surprise, Bangladeshi skipper Mominul Haque opted for the LBW review. The replays showed the clear picture as Taylor’s pad was nowhere near the ball, instead his lower part of the bat hit the ball. The umpire’s decision remained and the visitors’ lost the review, courtesy of their DRS blunder.

Just when New Zealand was coming back in the game, Bangladesh came back hard during the final stages of the day. From 136/2, the hosts were reduced to 136/5. Ebadot Hossain has claimed four scalps so far in the innings as New Zealand ended their day at 147/5.

Forget about series, Bangladesh has never won a Test match vs New Zealand. They now stand close to victory in the first Test of the series at Bay Oval. With New Zealand leading by only 17 runs in the second innings, the visiting nation has a realistic chance of claiming their first Test match win against the World Test Champions and lead the series 1-0.
