The Eoin Morgan-led London Spirit side couldn’t make it to the Final of the Hundred as the Manchester Originals defeated them comfortably in the Eliminator on Friday. Though Eoin Morgan had some decent performances in the earlier stages of the tournament, he was dismissed for a golden duck in the much-important Eliminator match. Batting first, London Spirit posted a good-looking 150-run total on the board, however, the Manchester Originals chased the total with 11 balls remaining. Post the match, while talking to Sky Sports, Morgan went on to speak about his playing future.
Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year, after struggling with his form for a significant period of time. He announced his retirement soon after the Netherlands tour where he was dismissed for a duck in two consecutive games. He ended his carrier as the highest run-getter and the most-capped player for England in both limited-overs formats. England also won their maiden 50-over World Cup title under the leadership of Eoin Morgan in 2019.
Eoin Morgan unsure about his playing future post The Hundred exit
While talking to Sky Sports, after the loss in the Eliminator, Morgan was asked about his plans regarding playing domestic cricket in the future. To this Morgan replied by pointing out that there is a big gap between his next playing assignments which are to be accomplished next year and said that he was unsure about himself playing. He mentioned that he has enjoyed his time post-retirement and said that he has loved the commentary stint. He also said that he has been spending more time with his family and that as well has brought him delight.
“I’m not quite sure. Tournaments are a long way away next year. Obviously finishing this year has reflected really well on me. I’ve enjoyed retirement a lot, I love the pod, I love golf, I love spending more time with my family, it’s been magnificent. But who knows next year?” said Morgan.

Morgan’s old mate, Kevin Pietersen, who was standing alongside while Morgan was speaking, went on to say on a funnier note that Morgan is going to join him in the commentary box.
“I think he’s answered the question about next year. He’s coming to join us in the pod, he’d rather be in the pod than win a game of cricket,” said the former England player.
