Team India is going to finish their 2021 England tour finally with the 5th rescheduled Test, which is going to begin on 01st July in Edgbaston. There have been speculations that India’s full-time captain Rohit Sharma may not be a part of the contest after he tested positive for Covid. ICC tweeted a question on their handle yesterday asking for fans’ opinion on who could take charge of the Indian team and Harbhajan Singh has replied to the query.
Harbhajan Singh picks his captain for the 5th Test
Rohit Sharma was part of the warm-up game against Leicestershire and it was during this contest he tested positive for Covid. Interestingly, the Indian squad hasn’t announced their vice-captain yet after KL Rahul was excluded as he is still recovering from his groin injury. In a bid to take the opinion of fans, ICC put out a question on their Twitter handle to which former cricketer Harbhajan Singh has replied.
While the grapevine is abuzz with Rohit’s absence from the final Test, going by the picture he recently shared, he may well be a part of the squad and captain India. Just in case he misses the Test, BCCI has already included Mayank Agarwal so he can replace the Indian captain top of the order. In reply to ICC’s query though, Harbhajan Singh came up with an interesting alternative and tagged Jasprit Bumrah as his choice for the captain.

Jasprit Bumrah has been an integral part of the Indian team across formats and was instrumental in India’s success on their 2021 tour of England. Harbhajan Singh has made his choice clear as he replied to ICC’s query on who could be in charge of the team in absence of Rohit Sharma. For the uninitiated, team India is currently leading the 5-match Test series by 2-1 and will win a Test series on English soil after 15 years if they manage to win the 5th Test or even just draw it.
