The New Zealand vs Bangladesh ODI series is to be concluded on December 23 at Napier. The hosts have already won the first two matches of the series, and now Bangladesh has nothing to lose. The Tigers have never beaten the Kiwis in an ODI match in New Zealand. This is what now Najmul Hossai-led side will look to achieve on Saturday. Ahead of the match, let’s analyze the McLean Park pitch report and ODI records. Also, find out how Napier’s pitch has fared in the most recent ODI match.

McLean Park, Napier has been hosting ODI matches since 1983. The most recent ODI at the venue, in 2019, also featured Bangladesh and New Zealand. Now, after four years, the venue is set to welcome Bangladesh again.

To date, Bangladesh has played three ODI matches in Napier in 2008, 2010, and 2019, all against New Zealand. Each of these matches was a one-sided affair, with the hosts winning by a significant margin. Talking about New Zealand’s overall record at McLean Park. Blackcaps have won 25 out of the 40 games that they have played here.

Napier Cricket Stadium ODI Records

The past ODI records at McLean Park suggest that the teams who go for chase enjoy success more often. The average score in men’s ODI here has remained at 242.

McLean Park Napier Pitch Report

Napier Pitch is expected to help the bowlers in the initial overs but as the match progresses the surface tends to slow down. The role of spinners will be crucial in the middle. Batters need to settle their feet in the initial overs for which they may start the innings with a slow run rate. The toss winner may opt to bowl first as the chasing side has had the upper hand here.

The last four ODI matches in Napier were low-scoring with no team reaching a total of 250. In 2019, the Indian team had restricted the Kiwis to a score of 156 and then chased the target in 35 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star of that match as he took 4 wickets.

Napier Weather during NZ vs BAN 3rd ODI

Accuweather has forecasted fair weather in Napier on Saturday. The chances of rain during New Zealand vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI are just 15% which suggests the fans can expect a match without any weather interruptions.
