Play Gets Abandoned At The MCG As Marsh and Stoinis Get Hit Brutally: The state of the pitch is very important to the outcome of a cricket match. Whenever a pitch creator designs the pitch, he has to take care of the various factors. But sometimes due to some reasons pitch can be void as it may be poor or partial for batting or bowling. And if so then pitch creators can come under the scanner for their poor work. However, the condition of pitch can be bad due to continuously play.
On Saturday, a game is abandoned at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis get hit brutally due to the bad behaviour of the pitch. It all happened during the 16th match of the ongoing season of Marsh Sheild between Victoria and Western Australia in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Western Australia batsmen got hit not once but on numerous occasions due to “dangerous” behaviour of the pitch.
After winning the toss, skipper Peter Handscomb invited Western Australia to bat first. However, it was very difficult to bat on as the bounce of the pitch was uneven. Coming in to bat at number 3 in the 11th over, Marsh got hit with an uneven bounced delivery from the good length.
Much like Marsh, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis also coped some series blows after getting hit by likes of Peter Siddle and Andrew Fekete. Initially, Stoinis was hit on the shoulder and then having hit nasty in the ribs. And thereafter Umpires has to called-off the game of the Day 1 because of the dangerous looking pitch.

However, the officials are planning to start the match tomorrow at the normal time. It will be interesting to see how well the pitch behaves on Sunday. The ground staff are continuously working to improve pitch since after the Day 1 abandoned.
