At a time when arrangements for the forthcoming five-match T20I series between India and South Africa, which would begin on June 9 and would be played across India, a surprising revelation has emerged from Orissa, which will organise the second T20I match between the two sides on June 12. This impending India-South Africa T20I series will be played in stadiums across the country with full capacity crowds and will be played with no bio-bubbles, however, the players will be evaluated before each match and at periodic intervals.
The first T20I will be played at Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi on June 9, the second T20I at Barabati Stadium in Orissa on June 12, third T20I at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on June 14, the fourth ODI will be played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on June 17 and the fifth and concluding T20I will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on June 19.
Man Files PIL In Orissa High Court; Demands cancellation of the T20I Match Between India and South Africa In Barabati Stadium
As per reports, Sanjay Nayak of the Bhuban area in the Dhenkanal district has lodged a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court asserting that the Barabati Stadium does not have adequate fire safety measures.
The appellant has asked the court to order the match to be cancelled. The petitioner has named the Odisha Government, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), and 12 others as defendants.
In addition, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), having to act on a suit filed by Nishikanta Mishra, recently requested a fact sheet from relevant authorities on the fire safety precautions at the Barabati Stadium. The commission had notified the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and the DCP of Cuttack.
As a result, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera has stated that adequate fire safety provisions will be made at the stadium to mitigate any unfortunate circumstances during the international match.
It is to be noted here that both the teams will arrive in Bhubaneswar on June 10 for the match while the ticket sale of tickets was opened in both online and offline mode from June 1.
