The Indian cricket team has reportedly complained to ICC about the services provided to the team after reaching Sydney.
As per the reports, Team India was provided cold food which included custom sandwiches and was offered a practice venue 42 km away from the hotel where they are staying.
Team India complained about services provided in Sydney
Team India was reportedly provided cold food which was not of optimum quality. The food included custom sandwiches along with fruits and falafel.
“The food that was offered to Team India was not good. They were just given sandwiches and they have also told ICC that food provided after a practice session in Sydney was cold and not good,” a BCCI source said.
Notably, International Cricket Council (ICC) is providing food during the T20 World Cup 2022. The host nation Australia is not in charge of food as it’s an ICC tournament. The ICC is not providing any hot food after lunch.
Team India’s complaint is not just about the food offered as the team is not happy with the practice opportunities provided to them.
Team India has been offered a venue in Blacktown (In the suburbs of Sydney) approximately 45 minutes away from Team Hotel where they are staying.
“Team India did not do practice sessions as it was offered a practice venue in Blacktown (In sub-urbs of Sydney) so they refused because that is appropriately 45 minutes away from Team Hotel where they are staying,” BCCI sources.
Most of the top Indian cricketers didn’t have their lunch at the practice venue as they headed back to the hotel for a meal of their choice. The cricketers wanted a complete meal rather than just sandwiches and fruits.
The complaint is specifically about not providing any hot food after lunch as the cricketers are used to having hot Indian meals after training sessions.
Team India will play the Netherlands on October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground after beating arch-rivals Pakistan with the narrowest of margins in their first game of the super-12 stage of the T20 World Cup.
The Indian team is placed in Group 2 along with Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Netherlands.
