Rahul Tewatia felt distrusted after he found out that his name was not picked in the 17-man squad for the upcoming 2 match T20I series against Ireland.
Rahul Tewatia was seen in an impeccable form during the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League wherein he displayed his finishing skills at will and was able to grab applauses from the veteran cricketers like VVS Laxman, Sunil Gavaskar and more. But still the super show-man did not make it to the Indian Squad and was quite disappointed. Similarly, Rahul Tewatia had got a call-up for T20I series against Australia after IPL 2020, but could not clear the fitness test at the time. He hasn’t been picked since then.
The 29-year-old expressed his disappointment succinctly. Following the announcement of the squad on social media, he simply stated, “Expectations hurt.”

The All India Selection Committee announced the squad for the 2 match T20I series against Ireland on Wednesday which is to played later this month.
As this series is supposedly clashing with the Test Series against England, many new faces are expected to be seen in this series. Rishabh Pant, who is leading India in the currently underway five-match T20I series against South Africa, has been left out because he is supposed to join the Test team abreast of the rescheduled fifth Test against England on July 1.
Hardik Pandya, the explosive all-rounder will be taking the captaincy charge as his 1st debut international captain. Rahul Tripathi, Umran Malik, and Sanju Samson were all designated to the squad. Rahul Tewatia, on the other hand, was deeply saddened. The all-rounder was overlooked yet again. Tewatia, who was acquired by Gujarat Titans for Rs 9 crore, figured prominently under Hardik Pandya. Tewatia amassed 217 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of almost 150 in the IPL.
The two match series is scheduled to be played on June 26 and June 28 in Dublin.
