Ravi Kumar Dahiya became the 2nd ever Indian Wrestler to enter the Olympics Final today. He defeated Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev in the Semi-finals to enter the Finals of Men’s Freestyle (57 kg). Ravi’s entry into the Final confirms another medal for India. With the assured silver medal, Ravi will fight for the Gold in the Finals against Zavur Uguev. Ravi’s semi-final bout win, at one point, seemed in danger when Sanayev gained 8 points in a row. Even after going down by a significant margin of 2-9 against his opposition, Ravi didn’t give up. He reduced the difference to 5-9 by pushing Nurislam out of the mat. Sanayev also hurt his leg while trying to resist Ravi.
Gaining his confidence back, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, pinned Sanayev down to win ‘by fall’, with just over 30 seconds left for the match to end.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya Olympics Final Date & Time
Ravi Kumar Dahiya will take on the two-time World Champion Zavur Uguev in the Olympics Final on August 5. The match will be in the Afternoon Session after the ‘Repechage Round 2’ and the ‘Bronze Medal matches’. It is the first time after the 2012 London Olympics that an Indian Wrestler has entered the Olympics Final. Previously, Sushil Kumar was the only Indian wrestler to have entered the Olympic Finals, which he did in the 2012 London Olympics.
