Shastri was quoted as saying, “I definitely don’t want an actress wife. I am chauvinistic. Her home should be her first priority.” To which Amrita had replied, “At the moment I’m too involved in my career to give it up. But I’m sure after a couple of years, I will be ready to become a full-time wife and mother.”
But their love story couldn’t last for more time and they called off their relationship. Then Ravi Shastri married with Ritu in 1990 and Amrita married to Saif Ali Khan in 1991.

The current Indian coach after taking divorce from Ritu, there was news that Indian team head coach was dating Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur (Airlift actress). In 2018, Buzz has it that Shastri, 56, is bowled over by the 36-year-old actress, and the news of their romance has spread like wildfire. However, the news was just a rumour. Reportedly, when Shastri was recently asked about his relationship with the Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur, he said, “Nothing to say when it is the biggest load of cow dung,”.
