Chennai Super Kings are in deep waters as things aren’t shaping well for the franchise. With CSK recovering from the blow of Raina’s exit and the coronavirus scare, they will now have probably to deal with the absence of their most experienced spinner – Harbhajan Singh.
Will Harbhajan miss IPL 2020?
As per the reports in Insidesport, Harbhajan Singh will be taking his flight to Dubai on 1st September. However, the rising COVID cases in the CSK camp has left him winced.
A source close to Harbhajan said, “Harbhajan is due to join the team on Tuesday. But the situation with Chennai Super Kings currently, has left him very worried. He may rejig his schedules or even decide to skip the IPL this year.”
Harbhajan Singh was one of the few players to miss the CSK pre-season camp held in Chennai earlier this month. He cited personal reasons while marking his absence from the camp. Moreover, the spinner also prolonged his schedule to arrive in the UAE. He postponed the schedule by two weeks owing to his mother’s illness.
Harbhajan’s absence will add to the existing troubles of CSK
All the franchises went into a compulsory 6-day quarantine after having landed in UAE. Unfortunately, their quarantine got prolonged to 14 days after a total of 13 members of the team management, including two players, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Well, the situation seemed to get back on track for CSK. But, Suresh Raina’s abrupt decision to miss IPL 2020 citing personal reasons created a sense of nonequilibrium.
With already uncertainty looming over the exact reason for Suresh Raina’s abrupt decision, Harbhajan’s absence will add to the woes of the CSK team management. If ever the spinner decides to pull out of the tournament, CSK’s team dynamics will be hit.
The 13th edition of IPL will kick-off from 19th September in UAE.
