Pakistan Cricket Board has a big challenge of winning the trust of other cricketing nations as they have major responsibilities ahead. They are the hosts to ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and also they have to host Asia Cup next year. Pakistan has successfully hosted many international series since the sport’s return to the country in 2017.
Sri Lankan and West Indies players had no issues playing in the country and have toured there multiple times since 2017. Recently, hosting Australia in all three formats is a big achievement for PCB. Chairman of the board, Ramiz Raja has also requested BCCI for the bilateral or multiple nation series, however, hasn’t got a positive response.
England Cricket agreed to tour Pakistan in September 2022
In 2021, New Zealand backed off from playing against Babar Azam-led side at the last moment due to security concerns. It was a big setback for Pakistan Cricket Board as following the news, England also postponed their upcoming ties with them. But as per reports, now England has given a positive nod to PCB.
Both nations will play a 7-match series for the first time. The dates are fixed yet but there is a window ahead of T20 World Cup, from September 15 to October 2. After the T20 WC, England will again tour Pakistan for a 3-match test series. English side is keen to play most of the matches in Rawalpindi Stadium due to better security arrangements.
