MS Dhoni is also an idol for Rishabh Pant. The successor of Dhoni gives a hefty credit to the former Indian captain. “He (Dhoni) has been like a mentor to me, on and off the field. I can approach him freely with any problem I may be facing, and he will never give me the entire solution for it,” Pant said in 2020.

The 23-year old didn’t have a good time with the bat in IPL 2020. Pant could score 343 runs in 14 matches for Delhi Capitals. The poor performance led selectors to drop him from the Indian limited-overs teams. The keeper-batsman didn’t find his name in ODI and T20I squads for the Australia tour.

However, his exceptional performance in test series on Australian soil revived his place in the Indian blues. And this time Rishabh Pant didn’t disappoint the selectors. He has continued his form in the home limited-overs series against England. Rishabh Pant’s fortune didn’t end here. The 23-year old has replaced injured Shreyas Iyer as Delhi Capitals skipper. He will be the youngest captain in IPL 2021 at the age of 23.
