Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur had claimed that his team will contest against Team India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final. After his bold statement, former Indian pacer S Sreesanth had come up with an epic reply and stated that even India’s C team can beat Pakistan’s main XI.
The Men in Blue had defeated the Babar Azam-led side by 7 wickets in a rather one-sided affair. After the high-voltage clash, Arthur had stated that the game in Ahmedabad on October 14 didn’t seem like an ICC event to him.
Pakistan cannot even dream of playing in such a big stadium: S Sreesanth
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Sreesanth came up with a hard-hitting reply to Mickey Arthur after the game at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He stated that Pakistan can’t even dream of playing in such big stadiums.
“Mickey Arthur said we’ll meet in the final. I don’t think Pakistan can ever beat India in an ICC trophy and or in any other event considering the team they have. Even our C team can beat Pakistan’s main XI. Make an IPL XI of players who are not playing, even they can defeat the Pakistan team,” S Sreesanth told Sportskeeda.
“Pakistan cannot even dream of playing in such a big stadium. We gave them a chance, but if you play like that, you won’t get such changes again,” the former pacer further added.
Team India handed Pakistan its eighth consecutive defeat in the ODI World Cup history. Prior to this match, the Men in Green showed brilliant form and had won their first 2 games against Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
After the humiliating loss against Team India, many former Pakistan cricketers raised questions on the ability of the Babar Azam-led side to reach the semi-final stage of the marquee tournament. However, apart from India and New Zealand, all other teams have faced at least one loss in the tournament.
With 2 victories in their first 3 games, Pakistan are still well in the fray for a top 4 finish in the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023. The below-par performance by teams like England and Australia till now will further boost their morale.
The 1992 champions are set to meet Pat Cummins-led Australia at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 20. Both teams will be quite eager to get a much-needed victory in this game in order to strengthen their chances of reaching the semi-final of ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
