KL Rahul and Co. kicked off the ODI series on South African soil with a resounding victory last Sunday. The Men in Blue dominated the one-sided game, chasing down a target of 116 runs in a mere 16.4 overs. Now, both teams have arrived in Gqeberha where the 2nd match of the series is scheduled to play. Here, we will analyze the conditions at the venue such as St George’s Park Gqeberha pitch report and ODI records at the venue. Below in this space, you can also check the last ODI match scorecard at Gqeberha Cricket Stadium.

St George’s Park, Gqeberha is the oldest and among the historical cricket grounds in South Africa. It has been hosting international matches since 1989. The Indian cricket team has played six ODIs at this venue, and their record isn’t great, winning only five out of those matches. However, they did manage to win their most recent ODI here against South Africa in 2018

Gqeberha Stadium ODI Records

Gqeberha Cricket Stadium has hosted 42 men’s ODI matches. The first ODI at the venue took place in 1992 while the most recent one was played in 2019 between South Africa and Sri Lanka.

  • Matches Played: 42

  • Biggest score while batting first: Pakistan – 335/6 (50) vs South Africa, 2002
  • Lowest score while batting first: New Zealand – 112/10 (30.1) vs Australia, 2003
  • Biggest total chased: Australia chased 330 vs South Africa, 2002
  • Lowest Score Defended: South Africa defended 179 vs West Indies
  • Gqeberha Cricket Stadium average 1st innings score in men’s ODI: 233
  • Gqeberha Cricket Stadium average 2nd innings score in men’s ODI: 200
  • Best figures for a Pacer: AJ Bichel (AUS) – 7/20 vs ENG, 2003
  • Best figures for a Spinner: Shane Warne (AUS) – 4/36 vs SA, 1994
  • Highest score by a Batter: Saleem Elahi (PAK) – 135(129) vs SA, 2002

St George’s Park Gqeberha Pitch Report

If we look at the recent ODI records at Gqeberha ground, pacers and spinners have found the venue suitable. In the last 5 ODIs, only three times the batting first side managed to cross the 250-run mark. The 2nd T20I match of India’s ongoing tour was played at this venue and Proteas bowlers had troubled Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the initial overs.

The team who will bat first will look to score at least 280. The captain of toss winning side is expected to bat first here. If the team manages to reach above 280, it will create scoreboard pressure on the chasing team.

Gqeberha Weather Report for IND vs SA 2nd ODI

Accuweather has predicted a 60% chance of rain in Gqeberha on Tuesday, with precipitation expected for 1 hour in the morning. The report suggests a couple of morning showers, but by the start of the match at 1:00 PM, the weather is expected to be suitable for the game
