Surprisingly, Virat Kohli finds no place at all in Sanjay Manjrekar’s Indian squad for the upcoming marquee event. Currently, Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the IPL 2024 with 430 runs in nine games at an average of 61.43. As of now, he is the proud owner of the Orange Cap. Manjrekar hasn’t revealed the reason behind missing out on Kohli’s name but it may be down to the fact that the batter’s strike-rate hasn’t been that impressive, considering a player of his caliber.
Virat Kohli has been on the receiving end for his strike-rate in the ongoing IPL season. Apart from the powerplay overs, he hasn’t quite been able to unleash his fury. While echoing his thoughts on Star Sports, the former Indian cricketer added that it is quite tough to name the squad since there are already several quality players in the mix. “It’s extremely difficult because there are many quality players. Especially after the IPL there are too many options, but let me make an effort,” Manjrekar said in the Star Sports video.
