The rivalry between India and Pakistan has been peppered by the chief Indian selector Agarkar and the star Pakistani allrounder Shadab Khan. Just a few days before the mega clash at the Pallekele, both sides have heated things in the press conference. Shadab Khan extends a war of words after Agarkar’s witty reply hyping Virat Kohli before the clash.
The newly announced chief selector of the Indian team has been under the spotlight for his off-field statement ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup clash.
Confident Agarkar backs former captain Virat Kohli to avoid the threat of Pakistani pace trio
The chief selector attended the squad announcement of the Indian team ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 where he started the war of words.
The former Indian fast bowler was asked about how the selected Indian team would cope against the lethal fast bowling of the Paksitani team in the Asia Cup. Agarkar saw it as a chance to praise his star batter while reminding the rivals about their last meeting. Agarkar replied to the question saying “Kohli will take care of them.”
The chief selector of India said it in the context of the last meeting between India and Pakistan in the T20 World last year where Kohli outclassed the same Pakistani bowling lineup. However, Agarkar’s statement poked the Pakistani allrounder Shahdab Khan and he gave Agarkar a very sensible reply.
Shadab Khan extends the war of words after Agarkar’s statement
The Pakistani allrounder reacted to the cryptic statement of the Indian selector in a smart way which already started the cold war between the two sides. The 24-year-old seemed to completely disagree with the Indian selector’s choice of words as he termed his claim completely unrealistic.
Shadad replied “It depends on a particular day, probably. Now, someone from India or I can make any claim, but those are just words. Anybody can say anything and that doesn’t change or affect anything. When we will have the match, then we might see what goes on,”
Shadab Khan recently played in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan where he showed his impressive form with both bat and ball.
India to play Pakistan in their first Asia Cup 2023 clash
All eyes will be on Virat Kohli on the 2nd of October who has been backed publically by the chief Indian selector to come up against the Pakistani pace trio. On the other hand, Shahab Khan will also like to continue his dream run of form against the rivals.
