The Englishmen and the Indians are locking horns currently with the series tied at 1-1. Both the teams are battling it hard to overcome the challenges and come on top. After his magical knock, Shardul Thakur has got a new nickname amongst his teammates.
It was a tough day for the Indian batsmen as the England bowlers were right on top with their accurate and lethal bowling. At one point, it looked like Indian openers will cruise, but there was a flurry of wicket and no big partnership could be made. The team had lost 7 wickets at the score of 127, then came Shardul Thakur and added crucial runs with his flawless batting and clean hitting.

The right-handed batsman took on all the English bowlers and scored 57 runs in just 36 deliveries. His exceptional knock was laced with 7 boundaries and 3 big hits. His knock helped the Indian team to get to a respectable total of 191. In the process, Shardul Thakur also surpassed the great Ian Botham in terms of consuming the least number of balls to reach his fifty.
Thakur only took 31 deliveries to reach his second fifty in Test matches, while Ian Botham had consumed 32 deliveries for the same. Following this knock, Shardul Thakur is being teased by the name of Sir Ian Botham and he feels good to be compared with the greats of the game. Thakur feels that the total of 191 is a good one.
