Former team India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is all set to have his legacy immortalized in Bollywood. Earlier today, the dashing Bengal-batsman announced via Twitter that production house Luv Films will produce a biopic on his incredible cricketing journey.

“Cricket has been my life”, Ganguly wrote about the development. “It gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen.”
Moments after Ganguly’s announcement, Luv Films’ official Twitter handle confirmed the news through a post. “We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly’s biopic. We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings. “

At the moment, very little information is available about this biopic. There has, however, been a fair amount of talk about the actor/ actors who will portray Dada on the silver screen. Based on popular speculation, it seems very likely that one of these two Indian actors will play the lead role in Sourav’s biopic.
These 2 actors likely to play the lead role in Sourav Ganguly’s biopic
The first of these actors is Ranbir Kapoor. While there’s no formal confirmation at the moment, sometime back, over on an interview, Sourav had revealed that he was a big fan of Ranbir’s acting. He had then gone on further to pick Ranbir as his actor of choice to play his role in a biopic.
If Ranbir does get selected for the role, it should be a very entertaining news for his fans. Back in 2018, the 38-year-old actor had brilliantly essayed actor Sanjay Dutt’s journey in his biopic, ‘Sanju’. Clearly, Ranbir’s past experience of working on films of similar nature should serve him good for bringing Dada’s glorious journey to life on the silver screen.
The other actor who looks to be in top contention for bagging the lead role in the movie is Rajkummar Rao. The 37-year-old Gurugram based actor has a reputation of being one of the most versatile performers in the industry. Rao has starred in several critically acclaimed Bollywood movies; some of which have even gone on to receive international fame. His most iconic performance till date has to be his portrayal of Newton Kumar in 2017’s ‘Newton’, a movie that won the Best Foreign Language Film award that year.
Again, much of the news about the movie is based on speculation; but something that has a lot of fans convinced that Rao himself will essay the lead role in the biopic was this story he shared on his official Instagram account. So it seems very likely that Rao will be involved with the movie in some capacity, if not directly playing the lead role himself.
