Rashid Khan, David Warner and now Kane Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost the complete core of players who made them one of the most consistent franchises in the Indian Premier League.
Former SRH allrounder Mohammad Nabi has come up with some serious criticism on the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Clueless with what happened in the last two editions with SRH team, says Mohammad Nabi
Sunrisers Hyderabad lifted the IPL trophy in 2016 and never looked back as they kept consistently qualifying for the playoffs stage in the next few editions of the Indian Premier League. A core that had the likes of Rashid Khan, David Warner, Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow was pretty dangerous for any opponent to handle. However, things have changed upside down in the last couple of seasons.
Former Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi, who was a vital part of the SRH squad, has raised some question marks at the team management of Sunrisers Hyderabad. When asked about the downfall of SRH, Mohammad Nabi blamed the management and said things were quite different in the last two editions.
“When I first came in 2017, we played the best cricket for the next few editions. But I’m clueless with what happened in the last two editions. The team combination, coaching staff everything got changed and the atmosphere was completely opposite. There were players who didn’t want to play with them, it was bad, “ said Nabi during an interaction with Sports Yaari.
“I don’t think this should happen with a big franchise, they need to think how to build and not destroy. Rashid was a brand of SRH, they let him go. When they didn’t want Rashid, I don’t know what were they planning. They had invested in him so they shouldn’t have left him,” the former SRH allrounder further added
It’s worth noting that SRH didn’t retain Rashid Khan and David Warner ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auction. Kane Williamson who was retained by the SRH management in 2022 was released too before the IPL 2023 auction. SRH will now play with a completely new core and are yet to announce their captain for IPL 2023 season.
