Chennai Super Kings overhauled their squad ahead of IPL 2023 after going through a terrible last season in the Indian Premier League. However, CSK have suffered a major blow as their star all-rounder Kyle Jamieson is set to be ruled out from IPL 2023 edition as he will undergo back surgery.
CSK all-rounder Kyle Jamieson set to be out of action for 3-4 months
Chennai Super Kings finished at 9th position on the IPL points table as they lost 10 out of their 14 games in the league stage in IPL 2022 edition. After the terrible outing in IPL 2022, CSK’s team management brought some major changes in the squad ahead of IPL 2023.
CSK’s key all-rounder Dwayne Bravo announced his retirement from the cash-rich league and the yellow army bought Ben Stokes and Kyle Jamieson as all-rounders to strengthen their squad. However, to add to CSK’S worries, Kiwi all-rounder Kyle Jamieson is set to be ruled out of IPL 2023 as he will undergo surgery for his back stress fracture. Jamieson will remain out of action for at least 3-4 months.
New Zealand’s head Coach Gary Stead informed about Jameson’s injury after the first test between New Zealand and England at Mount Maunganui.
“Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is getting surgery later in the week. It’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. He has been fantastic when he has been around all of our sides when he has been part of them,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said.
“While Kyle’s not feeling any pain, the evidence is pretty clear he has a stress fracture and so he’ll return to Christchurch today and have a CT scan on Friday before we decide on the next steps. Surgery provides a quicker return to play and that’s the encouraging thing for him,” Gary Stead further added.
Kyle Jamieson sustained the back injury in June 2022 in England and was eying a comeback this month in the home test series against the English side. But things didn’t go his way as the injury re-occurred and the scans confirmed the need for a surgery.

The tall all-rounder could have played a vital role in CSK’s squad in this year’s IPL as they lack variety in the pace department and his ability to bat in the lower middle order must have added depth to their batting as well.
