2021 proved to be a fruitful year for Team India as far as Test cricket is concerned. From claiming the historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy to leading the England series 2-1*, India gave their fans many moments to cherish.
Their run in the T20 format was not too bad either. They defeated a formidable English unit at home and got the better of New Zealand as well. However, the disastrous T20 World Cup campaign tainted their performance in the shortest format of the game. As 2022 has begun, we will look at the schedule of the India team in this calendar year.
In January, India will complete the remaining two Test matches of the Test series against South Africa that started in December of last year. The red-ball series will be followed by three ODIs. February will mark the beginning of India’s home season, starting with three ODIs and three T20Is against West Indies.
In February-March, India will be engaged with Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series and three T20Is. Afghanistan will be touring India for the ODI series, scheduled in March. India will lock horns with South Africa in a five-match T20I series in June.
India will compete against England for the Pataudi Trophy in July. The Test series that ended abruptly will resume. The two teams then will meet each other in three T20Is and three ODIs. India’s tour of the West Indies, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is is scheduled to happen in July-August. Asia Cup 2022 is slated to happen in the month of September.
India will be hosting Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022, expected to happen between September to October. The four-match Test series will be followed by three T20Is between the two nations. T20 World Cup 2022 will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
India will be up against Bangladesh in two Test matches and three ODIs, while the team will tour Sri Lanka for a five-match ODI series in December.
