Indian leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is a die-hard football fan, with FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among his favorite clubs. Recently, Kuldeep appeared on a live football streaming podcast on the YouTube channel Talk Football HD. During the session, a fan commented related to the IPL franchise RCB, and in response, Kuldeep took a jibe at Virat Kohli’s side, for which, he is facing backlash.
An RCB fan commented, “Kuldeep bhai RCB me aa jao, ek goalkeeper ki jarurat hai (Kuldeep bhai, join RCB, they need a goalkeeper)”. In response, Kuldeep Yadav made a witty remark, saying, “You don’t need a goalkeeper, you need a trophy,” a dig at RCB for their trophyless run in IPL history.

Although Kuldeep may have made the remark as a joke, it didn’t sit well with RCB fans. Once the podcast clip went viral, backlash from Bengaluru franchise supporters quickly followed. Meanwhile, on social media, fans reminded Kuldeep of his IPL 2019 performance against RCB, when Moeen Ali tore into him, and he conceded 59 runs in his 4-over spell. Kuldeep had appeared visibly distraught and almost teared up at the end of his fourth over.
After facing backlash, Kuldeep Yadav took to his X handle to smooth things over, tweeting, “Chill RCB fans, trophy aapki hai, par mai goal-keeper nahi hu. (Chill, RCB fans, the trophy is yours. But I’m not a goalkeeper.)”

After undergoing surgery for a groin injury, Kuldeep Yadav had to stay out of the Indian team for six months. However, he is now ready for his comeback. The 30-year-old leg-spinner will make his return in the ODI series against England, starting on February 6. The chinaman is also a part of the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.
