England’s head coach Brendon McCullum has spoken about the mindset with which his team will play against Pakistan in the three-match test series. Brendon McCullum has clearly stated that they will push for results as the audience won’t see dead rubber games.
We’ll certainly be pushing for results says Brendon McCullum
England will face Pakistan for a three-match test series beginning from December 1 as they’re travelling to Pakistan after 17 years. All eyes will be on England’s approach which has changed quite a bit since Brendon McCullum took over as the head coach along with the new test captain Ben Stokes. Their approach was termed as ‘Bazball’ by the English media.
“We’ll certainly be pushing for results because we see it as our obligation to try and ensure that people walk away entertained. And if we get beat Pakistan, we know, will have played well. I expect us to play well and if we get outplayed, that’s okay too. Looking forward to the opportunity, looking forward to the challenge and looking forward to the hospitality. And hopefully, in a few weeks’ time, everyone will say this has been an amazing series,” McCullum told reporters at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
“To win away from home is the greatest accomplishment you can achieve as a Test player and as a Test side. We understand the size of the challenge in front of us. But that’s great – that’s why you want to play the game, “ added McCullum as he stressed on how important it is to win against Pakistan as they play on Pakistan soil in a test series after 17 years.
There has been a significant change in the approach of the English side in the past few months. England defeated New Zealand thrice in a three-match test series and then chased down a mammoth total of 378 runs with ease against India due to their aggressive approach in test cricket. They went on to defeat South Africa too with the same aggressive way of batting.

McCullum’s statement has made it pretty clear that the English side would play with the same strategy even on foreign soil and testing conditions of Pakistan. It might get a bit tough for them to produce the same results but they’ll make sure that the series remains quite entertaining for the cricket fans.
