An English cricket fan called ‘Jarvo69’ has gained a lot of fame over the past month for his comically-timed interruptions during the England vs India test matches. It seems as though Jarvo has found an adorable four-legged counterpart in the Irish cricketing fraternity; as a cricket-crazy dog became an internet sensation for bringing the game to an amusing halt in Ireland’s Clear Currency T20 women’s competition.
Dog runs onto the field and interrupts live cricket match
During the semi-final match between Bready and CSNI, cricket fans and commentators were left in splits as this random dog from the crowd charged onto the pitch and tried playing fetch with the players. While not successful on his first attempt at catching the ball, the dog did eventually manage to successfully grab the ball with his mouth. What made the incident even funnier was that the dog almost helped the batting side (CSNI) get an extra run from the entire process!
The players and the commentators had a really fun time watching the dog run all around the ground. Some of the players even tried chasing the dog away, but the mooch looked to be in a really playful mood. Here’s the video Cricbuzz reposted from Clear Currency’s Twitter feed.

As for the game itself, while the CSNI players did enjoy the dog almost helping them to get an extra overthrow run, the incident didn’t have a significant bearing on the final result. Chasing 106, they managed to score only 63-runs from 12 overs at the loss of 9-wickets. Bready won the match by 11-runs on Duckworth-Lewis rules and will now play in the finals.
