Bairstow’s dismissal has turned into a heated debate between the two sides and the dismissal has given a spike in the already intense old rivalry between the two sides. The crowd too got involved as they booed the Aussies during the lunch break. Even the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made some comments on the dismissal by saying it was against the “spirit of cricket”.

Rishi Sunak and Anthony Albanese’s reactions after Lord’s Test

“The prime minister agrees with Ben Stokes. He said he simply wouldn’t want to win a game in the manner Australia did,” a UK PM spokesperson said in a statement. However, after Sunak’s statement, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took the debate into his own hands and tweeted:

“I’m proud of our men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have both won their opening two #Ashes matches against England. Same old Aussies – always winning! Australia is right behind @ahealy77, @patcummins30 and their teams and look forward to welcoming them home victorious.”

The hosts have lost the opening 2 Test matches of the series, Aussies are leading with a score of 2-0 in a 5 match series. Aussies have won the last 3 Ashes series and are now just 1 win away from retaining the series for the 4th time in a row.

The bazball technique hasn’t worked for the Englishmen yet, however, we have seen some breathtaking knocks from the hosts including the terrific knock of 155 runs in the second innings while chasing the massive total of 370, However, they only fell short by 43 runs. While Strokes was on the crease everyone was thinking that he was going to replicate what he did at Headingley where he single-handedly took the team over the line.
